Quinta do Moinho's location allows you to explore the city on foot and see the sights of this city. Highlights include the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Mercy, the Convent of St. Anthony, the Municipal Market, the Castle, Square and Church of San Francisco and the City Park. At the end of June the MED Festival is held, a reference in the world music scene.
The building was built according to the project of the architect Alfredo Costa Campos, from Lisbon, although the project had some changes since the initial document dating from 1903, which was based on another project of 1898 from an unknown architect.
During several days, at the end of June, the MED Festival offers enterteinment in Loulé´s old town with concerts of well-known artists from the world music scene.
This castle of Arab origins was rebuilt in the 13th century. It had a large walled perimeter, and some parts can still be seen.
The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Mercy, known as the “Sovereign Mother Sanctuary”, is located in the parish of São Sebastião, in the municipality of Loulé. It is one of the most important Marian sanctuaries in Portugal and its annual celebration is considered the "the biggest religious manifestation in the South of the country".
With rustic décor and a cozy atmosphere, it is the perfect venue for enjoying a tasty meal. The restaurant specializes in traditional Portuguese cuisine, serving Italian cuisine as well.
